‘Goaties, Old Goats and Jane Fonda’
I always wondered how I managed to coin the name of ‘Big Lisa’ and I now know. Last night at band practice, Steve was slightly upset, because he couldn’t hold my hand weight, (an enormous 1.5 lbs), with his arm outstretched, for any longer than 1.5 minutes. It was a sad moment, but I didn’t let it stop me from taking on the challenge. Will timed it and I managed 3min 55 sacs!!! I don’t even ache today. Caleb has new found respect for his mother, hopefully meaning that his stinky socks will now miraculously find their way to the washing machine instead of being left as a biological experiment on the bedroom floor. I know what you’re thinking though: what on earth would I be doing with hand weights? I’d like to point out that, sad as it is, I have been doing Jane Fonda’s 1980s extreme work out again, after a 20 year abstinence. Last time I tried to do it I put a rib out and was extremely embarrassed to explain my ‘stuck in the ‘80s’ fitness regime’, along with the headband and leg warmers, to the GP. I have a feeling that this time around it will take about 5 year s of constant progress to achieve any where near the same result as the ‘80s. Chocolate and large knickers are a source of great comfort to mature ladies.
While we are on such a shameless explanation of appearance, has anyone noticed Mike’s new addition? He is sporting some rather fetching facial hair, which I feel is an attempt to drag him self out of the ‘technological geek phase’ he’s been languishing in. He is our only link to the digital wonders of cyber space so I better be careful exactly what I write here [you got that right, Lis]. I think it looks ‘pucker’ and a slap with a large wet trout, across the face of anyone who says otherwise.
So about now you are wondering what the reference to ‘Old Goats’ is….or maybe you are already bored, my tireless ramblings, making you want to reach for the ‘delete’ button. Mike and Will have done a fabulous thing and added ‘ARCHIVE PHOTOS’ of all the old ‘Skellig’ band members over the years. There’s a bunch of old goats if ever I saw them. Take a look in Gallery on the website, as there are some hilarious shots. Our heroic lead singer can be seen wearing a tea cozy and dressed as Elvis at his 40th birthday. Makes my leg warmers look distinctly in fashion. More photos will follow, including one of our drummers, with his soother age 18 months, so keep on checking back. Mike and Will are officially rewarded with the ‘Enormous Hat of Cleverness for their efforts’…..In Mike’s case I think it will go nicely with the ‘Goatie’……………………… :)
